APIs are software toolkits and system operating instructions that are available to programmers to develop software applications for Windows® operating systems that control selected Reply-brand wireless response systems.*
The API’s packaged components (such as OCXs/DLLs, call-outs, base station com handlers, etc.) that allow developers to more rapidly design an application than if they were to design at the hardware directive level and build their own system control components. The time and cost savings achieved through such an API-enabled development have proven beneficial to many organizations.
Fleetwood Group pioneered the open-architecture philosophy for the audience response and electronic voting industries in 1988. Since then, many companies have written effective and creative software solutions for myriad market needs (focus group research, interactive meetings, game shows, strategic planning and decision making, etc.). Therefore, there may be an application available commercially that could not only save you additional time and money but also allow you to immediately use the system. Our experience has been that using an established application or working with its developer to customize it requires less of your time, less of your people, and less of your money.

APIs for new products (such as the new Reply® touchscreen keypad) are initially limited to top-tier developers for a fixed period of time (usually 1 year). This allows our valued reselling partners to create/modify applications and place them in the market early to gain a return on their development investments. Later, after this 'protection' period, APIs for new products become available to the public-at-large.
APIs for established products (such as Reply® Plus and Reply® Mini) are already available to resellers, integrators, and end users alike.
Fleetwood Group owns all rights to the underlying processor code, system command elements, and communications routines of the wireless response products it designs and manufactures. Therefore, only Fleetwood Group can legally authorize our API sales and/or license our APIs for distribution with software applications.
Currently, the only factory-authorized outlets for API purchases are Fleetwood Group and select resellers appointed to sell the APIs owned by Fleetwood Group. Pricing of each API is upon application to Fleetwood Group. The price of the API generally includes a license (annual or royalty-free, according to system purchased) and limited technical support. Additional technical support may be available on a pay-per-use basis. Also, as a requirement for purchasing the API for software development, you will need to own/purchase the appropriate wireless response hardware in sufficient quantities to test your software and provide proper technical support to the customers of your system solution.

A: Contact your factory authorized Fleetwood Group Electronics reseller. They can resell most APIs. If you do not know a reseller, contact the Fleetwood Group Electronics Sales Team for a referral.
Q: How much does an API cost?
A: Contact Fleetwood for suggested resale prices of the various APIs available to the public.
Q: Are there still restrictions on the Reply Plus API?
A: No. The API for Reply® Plus was originally in a 'protected' state for a period of time to allow our valued resellers to develop application software and get a return on their R&D investment. It is now available for purchase.
